In mid-September, the new Uptrip collections came into focus. What almost went unnoticed: Uptrip also updated features and card designs.
New Uptrip Card Designs
Since Uptrip neither communicates minor changes publicly nor in the App Store release notes, it only became clear over time that some cards received new designs – or, in some cases, a design for the very first time. The following cards are affected:
- Brussels Airlines cards: Instead of the previous dark-blue design with the red “b” on the tail, newly issued cards now feature the familiar red dots.
- Brussels Airlines A320neo: Newly introduced and already added to our Uptrip exchange marketplace.
- Eurowings 737-800: This card has received a design for the first time. Currently available through a wet-lease partner, but according to fleet planning it will become part of the regular Eurowings fleet in 2027.
- Swiss Embraer 195-2: This card recently appeared on the Uptrip marketplace. In fact, it was not new – it is the former “Embraer RJ-295,” simply rebranded with a new name and updated design.

If you spot any further updates, we’d be happy to hear from you!
Review of the Uptrip changes
It’s great to see that missing card designs have been added. Another positive point: older designs are not being overwritten, which is an important aspect for collectors.
Still, questions remain. Why does the very same card appear with a different name in the marketplace than in the personal collection view? This is at least confusing and can even lead to unwanted trades. Anyone who expected a brand-new card under the “195-2” name was left disappointed.
The Brussels Airlines design update also comes with a downside. Visually, the new look is an improvement. However, both the old and the new designs are considered the same card. Collectors cannot filter or specify which version they want, which is inconvenient. In our view, this would have been the perfect moment for Uptrip to make use of its own Editions feature.
So far, almost all cards (with one exception—more on that another time) are listed as Edition 1 (visible in the bottom-right corner of each card). Wouldn’t this have been the ideal time to introduce Edition 2? Perhaps someone at Uptrip will pick up on this suggestion. A retroactive adjustment should be technically possible.
One Bug Fixed, Another Introduced?
Uptrip also fixed a known bug that caused the app to freeze when placing a marketplace offer. The functionality of the “Create Offer” button was adjusted: pressing it now keeps users on the offer overview screen, and the app no longer crashes.
The drawback: users who were accustomed to the old process now often end up unintentionally spamming duplicate offers. Since there is no confirmation message, every repeated click successfully creates another identical offer.
Our take: users will quickly get used to the new behavior, and the shorter click paths are an improvement. Overall, we find the change positive after initial skepticism. Still, adding a small anti-spam mechanism – for example blocking duplicate offers within a few seconds – would be a welcome improvement.
Uptrip Design News Conclusion
It’s good to see that Uptrip continues to work on improvements and adds missing card designs. However, we would also like to see progress in other areas—and ideally, at a faster development pace overall.
