Uptrip FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Looking for answers about the Uptrip app? In our Uptrip FAQ, we’ve compiled the most common questions and answers about Uptrip, the digital loyalty extension of Lufthansa and Miles & More. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about collecting cards, rewards, status benefits, and more.

Allgemeines

The Uptrip app was originally a project of the Lufthansa Innovation Hub and has since been taken over by Miles & More. It complements the Lufthansa Group’s loyalty program. The target group is generally younger and more tech-savvy than Miles & More’s traditional customer base. The app allows you to scan boarding passes to collect digital cards, which can be converted into various rewards such as status points, lounge access, and more.

Collected cards can be redeemed in so-called collections within the Uptrip app. These collections provide different benefits: miles, status points, lounge access, partner offers, ticket lotteries for community flights, or branded products from the Worldshop. We’ve prepared a list of Uptrip collections for you.

Currently, Uptrip works with Lufthansa, Lufthansa City Airlines, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Discover Airlines, and soon also ITA Airways.

Collecting & Scanning Cards

After scanning your boarding pass at the gate during boarding, you can immediately scan it again using the Uptrip app. This also works up to 6 months after the flight, provided you were already registered with Uptrip at the time of travel. Alternatively, you can enter your booking code in the app or upload a photo/screenshot of your boarding pass.

In general, flights can be scanned up to 6 months retroactively, provided you were already registered with Uptrip at the time of the flight. Uptrip also allows you to scan a maximum of 2 flights from the past 6 months that occurred before your registration.

Yes, you also receive cards when traveling on award flights with a boarding pass.

The exact number of different cards is not known and depends on how you count them. For example, there are Allegris cards with the same design but different color variations. If you count different colors as just one card, there are currently a little over 550 cards. Note that some cards are not available on the Uptrip marketplace. The most comprehensive public list of cards can be found in our Uptrip card dashboard, once you’ve registered.

That depends on the specific card. In general, cards can be traded on the marketplace or purchased on NFT marketplaces. Rare destinations or rare aircraft can also be “flown” by taking the respective flight. Some cards, however, are only released on special occasions. For example, during Christmas 2024, many cards were released that cannot otherwise be earned through flying. You can also check out our guide with strategies for rare cards.

Check if your boarding pass is legible. If it still doesn’t work, try using the booking code or contact Uptrip support.

Card Types, Special Cards & NFTs

“Original” cards are generated by scanning your own flights; “Non-Original” cards are obtained through trades or by referring new members (friends referring friends).

NFT cards are digital trading cards on the blockchain that you can trade on NFT marketplaces. Within the Uptrip app, you can also transfer your own cards to the blockchain. Learn more in our Uptrip NFT analysis.

You can store them in your wallet, trade them on marketplaces, or use them for collections. Unfortunately, they can no longer be traded on the Uptrip marketplace.

Only cards listed under the official Uptrip contract address on NFT marketplaces are genuine. Details about fake Uptrip NFTs are available in our guide.

If you booked a CO₂ offset with SAF through your flight overview (e.g. in the Lufthansa app), you will receive one of 13 #MakeChangeFly cards when scanning your boarding pass in Uptrip. Only one card is given per booking, not per segment. The smallest package is sufficient to receive a card. Unfortunately, Green Fares are not eligible. Post-flight CO₂ compensation is also not accepted.

Problems with Cards & Marketplace

There are several reasons for this. Some cards have not yet received a design. It may also be due to technical mapping issues. More details can be found in our Uptrip error overview.

Not all existing cards appear in the marketplace search. You need to wait until someone lists the card, or you can try to obtain it through our Uptrip card trading portal.

This is a known bug. The best approach is to contact Uptrip support directly and request a goodwill reimbursement of the card.

Rewards & Status

Usually within a few days after completing the collection. Check the terms of the respective collection. If you don’t receive it by the stated deadline, you can contact support.

The terms of the Uptrip FTL collection explicitly exclude this. You must either wait until your Frequent Traveller status expires and then unlock it again through Uptrip, or contact support and kindly ask if they will extend it for you based on the collection. Some users on forums have reported success with this, but Scantofly.de cannot guarantee it. Here is more detailed information about the Uptrip Frequent Traveller status.

No. A Senator collection was announced long ago but never implemented. Instead, in 2025 there was an Uptrip sweepstake where three randomly selected users won Senator status. Currently, there are no signs of an upcoming Uptrip Senator collection.

Offers vary regularly. New Uptrip collections have usually been released around mid-month. Check the Uptrip app or Scantofly.de for the latest updates.

Costs & Support

Using Uptrip is free. However, costs may arise when using the marketplace or certain collections. For example, some collections can be redeemed multiple times, which incurs a fee per use. Users who want to use the so-called Joker card also pay €10.

The €2 trading fee is paid only by the user executing or accepting the trade.

The Uptrip Joker card can be used for a fee to replace missing cards in collections. It counts as an original card and costs €9.99.

You can contact support via email at support@uptrip.app.
